The Nevis Endeavour

THE NEVIS ENDEAVOUR

Climb into the wilds of the Nevis Range – charging down mountain streams, woods, bogs, shocks, challenges…and much more – for a cross-country endurance race that will push you to the limit and beyond. A test of determination spirit and camaraderie, but above all SPIRIT. Spirit is everything.

THE Nevis Endeavour is a crazy, gutsy, grueling off-road highland endurance event. It ticks all the boxes for pointless suffering in a mountain environment with obstacles and challenges that will leave you thinking….”Why?”

Brace yourselves for a challenge that will put fire in your belly and a smile on your face. A challenge that promises pain, sweat, tears and water. And washed down with a tipple of the Glens.

Learn More About The Nevis Endeavour

The Nevis Endeavour is for all fitness levels, but don’t expect an easy ride. Choose between a GNARLY 5K or a TOUGH 10K-ish course that’s actually closer to 12K. Originally created in the English Home Counties, we moved the event to the Highlands because we wanted something even tougher. At Escapaholics, we believe adventure should be challenging, unpredictable and fun, whether you enter solo or as part of a team.

Starting at over 2,000ft, expect incredible mountain scenery, steep climbs, fast descents, tricky terrain and natural obstacles that test your strength and determination. This is a true natural OCR experience using mountains, forests and upland trails instead of artificial rigs.

WHERE WE CAME FROM

It started in Buckinghamshire with one simple idea: raise money for charity by making life a little miserable. What began as a cross-country run became the legendary Swanbourne Endeavour—12 years of mud, misery, and mayhem, all for a good cause, raising £100,000s along the way.
Then we took things global—Vietnam caves, Himalayan highs, Borneo jungles—searching for bigger, bolder challenges.
Now we’re back.
The Highlands are calling. Join us for the FIRST EVER Nevis Endeavour, in partnership with the Nevis Range Mountain Experience.

THE COURSE PRACTICALITIES / RACE INFO

frequently asked questions

HOW MANY RUNNERS WILL THERE BE?

The whole event will be clearly marked out and have a maximum of 1000 runners setting off in stages.

Start times staggered from 11.00am, with the 5k runners heading off first

Race Registration is at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, easy to find, with plenty of parking nearby.

Race Start is outside the Snow Goose Restaurant at the top gondala station. Your entry includes the gondola ride, but get up there in plenty of time

Race Finish….is at the bottom gondala station at the Nevis Range car park…about 1,700 feet lower, so a knee jarring descent.

The race is tough, but there is a lot of downhill. If you have dodgy knees, this probably isn’t for you. There are invariably some hardy walkers on our events, who enjoy the views, challenges and camaraderie. The 10k has more uphill stretches (vomit hills as we call them) but the race is do-able. You don’t have to be superfit.

There will be water stops along the way and at the finish line.

This is the highlands. In May, you can expect sunshine, wind, rain, hail, mist, sleet and snow, (and all in one day.) Keep an eye on the forecast. Even if its dry – you will get wet, so no cotton t shirts – wear tech tops, running shorts, leggings, and consider mid layers, gloves and hats if the weather is bad.

Of course – you can represent your clan! We would recommend wearing leggings underneath, and don’t wear your best or favourite kilt.

Yes certainly. At Endeavour, this is always a joy for us. Wear decent running kit under, but there is an award for “The Best Dressed Runner

If you are raising money for charity, and it gives you impetus to get fit and put yourself through the pain of the course – then go for it – choose which ever charity is important to you.

Nevis Range has its own ‘pay as you go’ shower block. If you have booked accommodation then you will have your won showers. Otherwise we have a lovely hose pipe to clean yourself up before celebrations.

Yes – the Endeavour is great for team camaraderie. Corporate teams, family teams or just mates. Teams of 5 or more get you a 15% discount on entry.

Runners must be 16 years and older

Start times run between 11am and 1pm with registration open from 9.00am. You need to register and collect your run numbers at the registration tent – this will be close to the parking area and clearly signed.

Everyone who takes part in the Nevis Endeavour is a winner. Everyone gets a medal and t shirt. But there are trophies for:
