 …..and nothing beats a selfie. And what a backdrop for my lovely selfie. Chilling by the pool – a bit of R&R, cocktail in hand, before the most crazy, amazing escapapde in Ladakh, north India. Tibetan temples, abseiling off mountains, trekking to unbelievably high mountain passes and ridiculous sub-zero temperatures – crazy games and challenges in the mountains. These guys – how do they think these things up? A surreal place in a surreal landscape. Never been anywhere remotely like it. Nothing beats a selfie….except may be slightly salted yak butter tea….. Forget the idea that Selvaggio Blu is simply ‘Italy’s toughest hike’. This iconic Sardinian adventure is far more than that: an escapaholics adventure through one of the wildest, most remote, and most breathtaking coastal landscapes in Europe. Over five challenging days, you’ll traverse the untouched heart of Ogliastra—where towering limestone cliffs plunge into cobalt waters, ancient junipers (and you) cling to impossible rock faces.

This is trekking stripped back to its purest form. No waymarked trails. No crowds. Just rugged limestone underfoot, ropes and harnesses at the ready, and the vast blue horizon keeping you company as you move through spectacular spires, hidden bays, and isolated coves……and lets not forget that Escapaholic camaraderie and those Escapaholic challenges (if abseiling 45 metres isn’t enough). Make no mistake, this is a tough trek – and you need a head for heights!

27th May to 4th June 2027

  • Day 1: Group Arrival

Arrive at Cagliari or Olbia airport to be met by Escapaholics staff. Transfers to Santa Maria Navarrese – time to settle in and take your first dip in the crytal clear waters. Meet the team for the pre-trek briefing before a few games and a tasty dinner at the restaurant – the perfect way to start this fantastic Escapaholic adventure together!

  • Day 2 : Punta Giradili

Breakfast final briefing and off we go for a gentle start— a coastal walk to wake up the legs with swimming and lunch by the sea ….before we start to climb continuing through canyons and forests. The terrain is rugged, remote, and magnificent. But as for most days, we will find time for a cooling swim. Then later in the day – what a camp – you will feel you have escaped by the time we set up camp in Paolo’s sheepfold to enjoy genuine local hospitality. The perfect way to wrap up this intense and unforgettable day.

  • Day 3: Punta Salinas

A morning start with Paolo’s famous hearty breakfast before setting off for the long descent toward the hidden cove of Portu Pedrosu. We’ll follow an ancient mule track (we love mules) that winds through lush forests, withbreathtaking views of the Gulf of Orosei along the way.

After a refreshing break by the sea, we’ll continue our journey along the coast, passing through dense forests and deep canyons……then, it’s the ascent to our remote campsite on the panoramic ridge of the mountain, with stunning views of the sea and a few jolly japes to end the day. Food, local wine and great company.

  • Day 4: Cliff thrills and blue waters

Today brings the most stunning views of the Selvaggio Blu, perched on a cliff overlooking the breathtaking Cala Goloritzè. It’s a pretty crazy descent to the cove below to enjoy crystal clear waters. Then – here we go, the first via ferrata, a taste of some Escapaholic adventures to come. After ‘a little’ more walking we set up camp in the holm oak forests for such a peaceful and chilled evening.

  • Day 5
From here on, the Selvaggio Blu gets more challenging.
 This is the most technical day of the trail, with exposed paths that lead us along the cliffs, offering spectacular views at every turn. We’ll tackle incredible 
aerial passages, crafted by the shepherds, following in the footsteps of these forerunners of Escapaholics.
Get ready from some pretty scary exposed ledges and challenging trails. But there is always time for a dip in the blue waters at lunchtime…… After a series of equipped passages and rope descents, we’ll finally reach our camp under another endless starry sky.
  • Day 6: Trekking, abseiling and boat back home…

On our final day of hiking, we’ll tackle the most thrilling rope descents of the Selvaggio Blu, (without giving too much away – lets just say this is an Escapaholics challenge extraordinaire!)  After the final rope descent, were back at the water’s edge for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear sea!

Celebrate your adventure with a gala dinner and awards ceremony.

  • Day 7: Time to relax

Free and easy to enjoy a beer, swim in the crystal clear waters, enjoy some snorkelling and rest those bones. Final dinner and a chance to reminisce and sooth those blisters…..

  • Day 8: Sardinia to home

Transfers back to airport and farewells. Time to start planning the next Escapaholic trip

Escapaholics don’t just want a holiday – they want to escape work and be thrown headlong into an adventure. They want to see the cultural sites – for that ‘insta’ moment but they want to fill their day with all the other stuff as well. The fun stuff. They want to be annoyed by their hosts. They want pointless challenges, and they want to emerge from that ‘wind tunnel’ of adventure, arrive back at work and think….”Wow.”

Escapaholics see places normal tourists wouldn’t see; make friends they wouldn’t otherwise make and become addicted to the crazy outdoors.

From the Indian Himalaya in Himachal Pradesh, with its rhododendron forests, snow capped peaks and a hint of Dalai Lama. And once you’ve been…..

……WHERE NEXT?……to the desert plateau of Ladakh, the Karakoram range, the roof of the world, and a slurp of yak butter tea.
