ESCAPAHOLICS
Sand and Snow Adventure
My name is Skonie and I’m an Escapaholic…
…in fact one of the originals and its been 42 days since my last adventure. And I learnt to hone my escapaholic skills whilst freezing in the depths of Greenland with a bunch of other escapaholic misfits. But the sweet and sour…the snow and sand cocktail of the highlands of Scotland and the sands of Arabia – what a heady mix to enjoy. Freezing on the side of Ben Nevis to desert survival (with some interesting additions) in the Hajar Mountains – can’t wait to head out there…….
Escapaholics Sand and Snow Adventure – Scotland & UAE

Our new Sand and Snow adventure takes in the trials and trails of the UK’s highest mountain…in winter, to the Hajar Mountains in UAE – all in the same trip. Whisky tasting and highland bothys followed by some winter sun, (but not as you would normally expect it) with a 3 day trek through the stunning mountains of the Arabian peninsula.
🕓 Itinerary
4th to 14th December 2026
3rd to 13th December 2027
- Day 01
- Fort William
Arrival at Inverness (if flying in from England or Glasgow if from overseas). Transfers to Nevis Range Mountain Resort. Arriving deep in the highlands, enjoying some rain-time and time for some local sightseeing before welcome drinks and meeting the team. Dinner and Whisky tasting.
- Day 02
- Nevis
After breakfast and kit check, the departure is via the Nevis Range Gondola, with a few unexpected challenges. The day is spent trekking through Nevis Range, with orienteering and challenges along the way, camping in the heart of the highlands. It might be rain…it might be snow, but it is wild – and uphill!
- Day 03
- Mountain bothy
The trekking, climbing and hauling through the numerous valleys, gullies and saddles towards the summit of Ben Nevis. Escapaholics enjoy unsuspecting challenges and interesting routes before reaching the mountain rescue bothy for a hearty dinner and a dram or two.
- Day 04
- Ben Nevis
An early start to reach the summit of Ben Nevis. Will there be a view? wont there be a view? There wont be midges, thats for sure, as we head back for the descent through Glen Nevis. Transport back to Nevis Mountain Resort for celebratory drinks, welcome shower and preparations for departure to UAE.
- Day 05
- Dubai
So you have just got off the mountain and starting to dry out. What better way to dry out than by heading to the desert? An early start, accompanied to Glasgow airport to head to UAE. This is a day of travelling and quick acclimatisation, arriving late in Dubai with transfers to local hotel.
- Day 06
- Dubai
So Escapaholics probably deserve a day of R&R, may be chill by the pool, with options to visit the Burge Khalifa and other sights and a pre desert and mountain briefing before dinner.
- Day 07
- Hajar Mountains
At last heading into the true desert mountainscape of the Hajar Mountains. Steep ascents, canyons and rugged terrain. Not that different from the Highlands, really. After a transfer from Dubai into the heart of the Hajar mountains we head off through canyons and wadis through these spectacular mountains. After a long day, camping and being hosted by our Bedouin friends, a relaxed dinner under the stars.
- Day 08
- Hajar Mountains
- Day 09
- Hajar Mountains
Early start to catch the sunrise over the mountains and trekking back to civilisation. Return to hotel, cocktails by the pool.
Evening dinner and celebratory drinks.
Kit list: Best Hawaiian shirts…
- Day 10
- Dubai
R&R, relax by the pool; trip to Wild Wadi
Celebrations, final dinner and awards ceremony.
- Day 11
- UK
Escapaholics don’t just want a holiday – they want to escape work and be thrown headlong into an adventure. They want to see the cultural sites – for that ‘insta’ moment but they want to fill their day with all the other stuff as well. The fun stuff. They want to be annoyed by their hosts. They want pointless challenges, and they want to emerge from that ‘wind tunnel’ of adventure, arrive back at work and think….”Wow.”
Escapaholics see places normal tourists wouldn’t see; make friends they wouldn’t otherwise make and become addicted to the crazy outdoors.
From the Indian Himalaya in Himachal Pradesh, with its rhododendron forests, snow capped peaks and a hint of Dalai Lama. And once you’ve been…..
……WHERE NEXT?……to the desert plateau of Ladakh, the Karakoram range, the roof of the world, and a slurp of yak butter tea.
The culture of Tu Doc’s ancient capital in central Vietnam, nestling on the perfume river, to a bloomin crazy, leech infested remote cave and jungle expedition.
The steaming rainforests of Sarawak for a true head-hunter, jungle survival adventure
……My name is Tom…..and I’m an escapaholic……
